Ever eat something first and then scan it for the SmartPoints values? Well, I was on my way home after an extremely long day (7:30 am – 8:30 pm) of parent-teacher conferences and I ate a snack bag of almonds that my husband bout me. Then I scanned it, 8 SmartPoints! Tomorrow is another day.
It’s looking like I’m going to get enough sleep to go to early morning spin class, and that is very exciting to me. Before I sign off for the day, I’d like to leave you with these words, I think it’s better to think about this journey as a choice, not a fight. Yes, some days are very hard, and yet if I always think about it as a fight it makes this so much harder. When I think about this journey as a personal choice it shifts from being a burden to a form of enlightenment.
So make a choice that gets you where you want to go. Be kind to yourself. Honor all your efforts even when things don’t work out as planned. More tomorrow.
Happy 16th Birthday David! We had a party tonight to celebrate our son’s special day. We had the family over and had so much fun. I am very happy to say, David felt loved and that’s what a birthday is all about.
In terms of being on plan… it was a challenging day. It began with professional development, (I was attending not facilitating) and then, of course, there was the party. Professional development comes with an assortment of snacks. With the party? Well, lasagna and birthday cake of course.
I’m happy to say I did not have any candy, and I was very strategic about what I ate. I used very few points and “saved up” for dinner. I did really enjoy what I ate and now I just feel good. Will I get to goal? I don’t know, I really have no idea but I hope so. I did not reach my fitness goal, I only went to spin one time this week. I did recover my points from my overindulgence from last Saturday. I am rolling over 8 SmartPoints. I have been planning and tracking.

Sometimes having quick and easy dinner options are a lifesaver. Maybe that’s a little too dramatic. Sometimes having quick and easy dinner options are a plan saver is more like it. We had turkey kielbasa, rice, and peppers and onions. Nothing fancy but it worked. My daughter cut up all the peppers and onions so by the time I got home all I had to do was to cook. I’m grateful for the help.
I prepacked, and tracked breakfast and lunch for tomorrow. Just for fun, I’m setting a goal for tomorrow to roll over four points. Let’s see if I can do it. Have you been setting small goals? If not, think about setting one because they help.
I had Open House so I only got home around 9:30 pm. I was really hungry and ate dinner and then I had 1 and 1/2 servings of Edy’s Moosetracks Sugar-Free Ice-cream. I went over my SmartPoints allowance so I did not earn a “blue dot”. In retrospect, it wasn’t really worth it but this was just one choice out of so many others. I thought about not tracking it for a moment, but then who would I be kidding? Myself. I am proud that I recorded it and am continuing to be honest with myself and anyone who happens to read my post.
Now I am looking forward to washing my face, getting into p.j.’s and hitting the sack. Tomorrow is a new day.
I was busy all day, didn’t think about food once. Until I was starving! Totally internal hunger. Here are the signs It had been hours since I last ate. I would’ve been happy with any food. I had a bit of a headache. That hasn’t happened in a while, so now that things are ramping up with work I’m going to have to be vigilant with packing food to grab and go if I need it.
I notice that the people who are the most successful are those who plan ahead. They food shop with a plan. The store food very intentionally, like writing out the Smartpoints values on servings, and having cut up foods on hand. Planning is just another way to be strategic
I think it might be time to clean out my refrigerator and consider preparing menus for myself. That may be a nice way to support my efforts. I am so close to goal I might even get there in September. I realize that there is not going to be some monumental shift in my reality when I finally reach “GOAL”! However, I will have the satisfaction of achieving something I desperately wanted for a long time. I can say, I did it and that’s a big deal to me.
DAY 25: Seek out alone time—read a book or practice yoga or meditation.
Alone time is important, it allows for quiet focus in an extremely busy world. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why blogging is so meaningful to me. Writing gives permission to reflect on how it’s going, I can think through my choices, and set goals for the future. So, say yes to seeking out alone time because it helps with the journey!
