Day One Hundred Ninety-Eight…

While walking Sadie, I took a picture of the electrical box hanging off a pole on our street. Now, I don’t know anything about any of that – but it looks kind of dangerous. It looks like the kind of issue that requires some serious attention.

Going for a walk is her favorite thing to do. We’re so happy to take her out and to let her explore.

That got me thinking about keeping the lights on (as it were) when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle and weight loss. There are three things I do every day that help me stay on track:

  1. I don’t let myself get too hungry – I monitor internal/external hunger cues.
  2. I eat a variety of foods. Yes, I have my staples but I mix it up so I don’t get bored.
  3. I track and prep ahead of time so that I’m not constantly thinking about food.

If you’re having a hard time on the journey, I hope you are being kind to yourself. Food is everywhere, and losing weight is very challenging. It’s important to take time to figure out what works best for you.  When you figure it out, remember not to let yourself go on auto-pilot because old habits are familiar and it’s easy to fall back into unhelpful behaviors.  It’s worth the effort, good health and confidence are the rewards so don’t give up! You can do this! I believe in you!

  1. I needed to read this today, as my scale hit a high I haven’t seen in years. In response, I ate really healthfully today–even at a restaurant in the middle of a field trip! Thanks for the encouragement via your Slice.

  2. I’m so glad I found this post. It’s like you were writing it just for me. I returned to the gym and yoga studio for the first time in months this afternoon. I felt like it was the first step towards reestablishing some healthier habits because you are so right about the unhelpful ones. I also hope the electric issue is resolved without injury!
