It’s a very sensitive thing about this journey. Only you can make the decision to take the first step. However, there can be influential people around you who try to urge you along the path. People who are there for you, who try to show you the way. I am in one of those situations. I am trying to encourage my daughter to begin her own journey to weight loss and a healthier lifestyle. So I have extended an invitation with support to help her along by preparing all of her meals as I prepare mine.
It is a challenge to do this. Making my own meals tracking and planning is part of my life now but when I add the extra work to include my daughter it takes more time and that makes it tricky to manage. If you are a parent, then naturally you understand why I would volunteer to do this – parents love their kids and want them to be happy and healthy. We would do anything to support them, and I am no exception. I just hope it sticks.

It’s Daylight Savings and we lost an hour. That means I had one hour less to do everything I need on this last day of the weekend. I spent my Sunday trying to catch up, and I am happy to be finished with my work and feel ready to take on tomorrow. I am really proud of myself for persevering because I could easily have gotten overwhelmed by the sheer amount of work I have to do and could have blown off my commitment to myself. It’s important to me that I continue to take this time to write. Writing about my thoughts and feelings is as important as it is for me to track and plan out my food and activity.
As I reflect on my journey I realize how my perspective on things has changed. I no longer feel like this isn’t something I can manage on top of everything else. In fact, it’s just the opposite doing this for myself is making me more able to manage the rest of my life because I am caring for myself. Does that make sense to you? My wish for you is that you find something that helps you (like writing has done for me) and then you take time every day to do that thing. It doesn’t matter what it is so long as it’s meaningful to you. You are worth the time and effort. You matter!
A Token of My Affection…
Here is a little gift for you. A friend wanted to be able to type into the Meal Planner. I offered to create another version of it so she could. Here is what you have to do:
- Click on the Link: Meal Planner
- Save it as your own or download it to your computer. If you type into this one, everyone else will be able to see your menu for the week 🙂
- Then use it as you will!

Thank you, Jen – I appreciate this addition to your “Tool Box” and the time you took to create, given everything else you have on your Plate (no pun!)
